Introducing the CHI Software GameDev Department
At CHI Software we are trying to develop and improve a certain number of areas of expertise. Among all others, we highly value our Gamedev department. Experts with rich and diverse portfolios gained from various outsourcing projects are now also developing internal products, using their development experience and knowledge.
For now, we are refining our skills in mobile platforms. Three projects will be released soon: Zombie Tower Defence, Sod’s Law, and VR Among The Shadows.
In Zombie Tower Defence the plot develops around the Middle Ages hero, who is returning home from work. On his way home, he is attacked by packs of zombies trying to kill the hero. The player’s aim is to control the zombies and to confront the hero.
Sod’s Law is an arcade game where the player drives a flying police car. The goal of the game is to fly, chase and kill minor enemies and later then defeat the boss, who appears at the end of every level.
Among the Shadows is a Virtual Reality game, which takes place in a randomly generated maze of rooms with dim lighting. The player has to confront “shadows” of different sizes. The goal of the game is to reach the exit from the labyrinth.
Our gamedev representatives participated in an international conference NODE’19 dedicated to the gaming industry. Game Design Team shares their impressions of the event:
“On April 20, several people from our gamedev department at CHI Games attended NODE’19, the annual conference dedicated to the gaming industry and computer graphics. This event lasted a whole day and the reports were held simultaneously in three classrooms. Our team was divided in order to fully cover all the interesting topics. The most useful and interesting reports for us were topics about the significance of personal art for a 3D artist and level design development using Blender — a free package for three-dimensional modeling. We also would like to mention interesting reports on the topics of visual narrative in games (with the most expressive presentation of material for the entire conference) and game metrics that every game designer should know and be able to use. We really enjoyed attending this game conference, gained new knowledge and were filled with creative energy for a long time, which we will devote to game content creation at CHI Games. We are most grateful to our management for the tickets to NODE’19!”
